Journey Senior Living develops beautiful senior living communities that provide exceptional service in a loving and caring environment,where the focus is on enhancing the lives of our residents and their families.
We were established in 2012 by Blair Minton, and provide residents of market-rate assisted living communities with a compassionate and dignified environment in their retirement years. The initial focus for Journey has been new construction, but will also include adaptive re-use of former hotel properties.
Journey Senior Living is able to provide development services to each community if needed. The company is currently negotiating a contract to manage all of the communities for a purchase of distressed assisted living assets.

Journey Senior Living operates as a consulting firm and manages medical office buildings and assisted living/independent living communities.
Blair Minton – President

Mr. Minton has over 40 years of experience in all phases of the health care industry, including 32 years of experience in administration, financing, planning and development of communities and services.
A registered nurse, Mr. Minton has practiced nursing in both nursing homes and hospitals. He holds an Associate of Arts Degree in Nursing from Kaskaskia Junior College in Centralia, Illinois.
Mr. Minton was Vice President of Development for Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee, Illinois, a 350-bed hospital. While with Riverside, Mr. Minton developed Riverside’s county wide ambulance service and Helicopter ambulance service, later sold to a Chicago hospital. He also developed their outpatient pharmacy and DME business. Prior to Riverside, Mr. Minton was Vice President of Christopher Rural Health Corporation that developed and managed multiple clinical facilities in rural areas of Illinois for the Department of Health & Human Services.
Mr. Minton’s first company, Blair Minton and Associates, was formed in 1989 to assist hospitals in building for-profit businesses. Between 1990 and 2000, Blair Minton and Associates (as a management/development consultant) helped to develop over 400,000 square feet of medical office space for Delnor Community Hospital in Geneva, IL, Hoopeston Hospital in Hoopeston, IL and Illini Hospital in Silvis, IL. Included were a cancer treatment center, outpatient kidney dialysis unit, inpatient rehab and normal medical office space. Blair Minton and Associates also consulted in the development of independent living, assisted living, nursing homes and rehabilitation facilities for several other hospitals and non-profit corporations. Blair Minton and Associates managed over 400,000 square feet of medical office space for Delnor and Riverside Hospitals for 13 years. Blair Minton and Associates also developed a 100 unit assisted living community in Lake Mary, Florida and partnered with Heritage Enterprises in Bloomington to build Evergreen Place Assisted Living in Normal, IL.
Mr. Minton formed BMA Management (now Gardant Management Solutions) in 1999 to develop, build and manage Supportive Living Facilities (SLF) in Illinois. BMA received 2 of the first 6 licenses for SLF and now have over 40 licenses in Illinois. Most of these communities were financed and built from the ground up. Mr. Minton financed projects with IHDA and tax credits, HUD, commercial bank loans and Farmer’s Home Administration funds. At the time of his retirement BMA Management had over 3,500 assisted living units and 1,900 employees throughout Illinois. BMA management also developed projects in Minnesota and Indiana for other clients.
Mr. Minton formed Journey Senior Living in 2015 to build and manage private pay assisted living and memory care communities. Journey and its sister community Life’s Journey Senior Living are for-profit mission driven companies that believe that our mission is to keep people out of nursing homes while providing them with a loving, dignified and compassionate home. We believe that we only provide 5 things for our residents and families…safety, security, love, compassion and dignity.
Journey Senior Living has opened a 50-unit memory care community in Merrillville, IN in August, 2016 and a new construction 85 unit assisted living/memory care in Ankeny, IA in September, 2016. We currently have a 100-unit assisted living/memory care community under construction in Valparaiso, IN which will open in December 2017. Journey leases and manages 5 memory care communities in Paris, Mattoon, Pana and Taylorville, IL for SABRA REIT. Journey Senior Living will also take over management of Stonebridge of Gurnee SLF in December. Stonebridge will provide care to individuals 22-64 with disabilities.
Blair served on the Board of Directors of the Argentum (formerly ALFA), the largest national organization exclusively dedicated to professional operated assisted living communities from 2010 to 2016.
